After reviewing the matter, a revised FRTA was issued, followed by the Sliding/Identity Verification process and finally the result declared on 25 August 2026.

What Is FIX and FLOAT in SSC Stenographer?

SSC introduced the sliding mechanism to make better use of vacancies that might otherwise remain vacant due to candidates not joining.

FIX

A candidate choosing FIX effectively confirms the allocated post/department and does not seek a higher-preference reallocation under the sliding process.

FLOAT

A candidate choosing FLOAT remains willing to be considered for an eligible higher-preference allocation according to the applicable sliding rules.

In the final process:

1,055 candidates were under FIX.

549 candidates were under FLOAT.

111 candidates received new allocations against seats created by absent candidates.

Fresh Ranks Issued in Final Result

SSC has confirmed that fresh ranks have been allotted to candidates included in the final result.

These new ranks supersede the ranks issued in the revised FRTA.

Therefore, selected candidates should refer to the rank appearing in the final result, not an older FRTA rank.

What Happens After SSC Stenographer Final Result?

The declaration of the final result does not mean that candidates can immediately join their allocated office.

The next major stages are:

Document Verification → Departmental Formalities → Appointment/Joining

SSC has stated that the allocated User Department will conduct Document Verification and appointment formalities for shortlisted candidates.

Important: SSC Will Not Conduct the Final Document Verification

The respective Ministry/Department/Organisation to which the candidate has been allocated will handle the process.

Candidates should therefore monitor:

Registered email

Registered mobile number

Allocated department website

Official correspondence

SSC notices where relevant

Documents Candidates Should Keep Ready

The exact requirements will be communicated by the allotted department, but candidates should normally keep the following original documents and photocopies ready:

Class 10 Certificate/Marksheet

Class 12 Certificate/Marksheet

Educational Qualification certificates

Date of Birth proof

Category Certificate, if applicable

SC/ST Certificate, if applicable

OBC Certificate/NCL Certificate, if applicable

EWS Certificate, if applicable

PwBD Certificate, if applicable

Ex-Serviceman documents, if applicable

Aadhaar Card/valid government photo ID

Passport-size photographs

SSC application/registration details

Final result PDF

Admit Card

Any other document requested by the allotted department

SSC has made it clear that selection is purely provisional and subject to successful Document Verification. If a claim related to educational qualification, caste/category or other eligibility conditions cannot be supported with valid documents, candidature can be cancelled.

What If the Department Does Not Contact a Selected Candidate?

This is an important instruction from SSC.

If a shortlisted candidate does not receive any correspondence from the allocated User Department within six months from the declaration of the final result, the candidate should directly contact the concerned User Department.

SSC has specifically stated that it will not entertain correspondence regarding Document Verification or appointment formalities after allocation.

Is There a Waiting List for SSC Stenographer 2025?

No.

SSC has confirmed that no reserve list or waiting list has been prepared.

Any vacancies left unfilled after the final result or vacancies arising because selected candidates do not join will be carried forward by the concerned department or organisation to the next recruitment year.

This is particularly important for candidates who narrowly missed selection—they should not expect a conventional SSC waiting-list result for this recruitment cycle.

SSC Stenographer Detailed Marks 2026

SSC has stated that the detailed marks of qualified and non-qualified candidates will be made available shortly on its official website.

Candidates should monitor their SSC login and the official website for the marks/scorecard notice.

How Were Tie Cases Resolved?

If two or more candidates obtained equal aggregate marks in the Computer-Based Examination, SSC applied the following tie-breaking criteria in sequence:

Higher marks in Part III – English Language & Comprehension

Higher marks in Part II – General Awareness

Older candidate based on Date of Birth

Alphabetical order of candidates' names
