This affects:
- Participating RRB
- Local-language requirement
- Vacancy competition
- Examination language options
- Final allotment
Do not select a State only because it has more vacancies unless you satisfy the relevant local-language and eligibility conditions.
Local Language Rule Explained Simply
For Office Assistant and Officer Scale-I, local-language proficiency is an essential condition.
Candidates who have studied the prescribed language at Class VIII or above in a recognised school/board are generally treated as proficient.
Where applicable under the notified rule, a selected candidate who does not have the required language proficiency at the time of selection may be given a limited period after joining to acquire it, subject to RRB rules.
For West Bengal:
Bengali / Nepali
are the prescribed local languages.
Application Correction Window
Candidates should fill the form correctly at the first attempt.
The detailed recruitment schedule provides for an:
Application correction/edit window after registration closes
and the exact dates will be notified separately by IBPS. Current reporting indicates this will be a short window of approximately two days.

IBPS RRB Salary 2026
Salary differs by:
- Post
- Participating RRB
- Place of posting
- DA
- HRA
- Special allowances
- Other service benefits
Therefore, candidates should be cautious with websites quoting one universal “in-hand salary.”
Generally, Officer posts carry significantly higher basic pay and responsibility than Office Assistant posts.
The actual appointment letter of the allotted RRB will govern the candidate's pay, allowances, probation and service conditions.
Why IBPS RRB Recruitment Is Important for Bank Aspirants
RRB recruitment is particularly useful for graduates because:
- Office Assistant accepts fresh graduates.
- Officer Scale-I also accepts fresh graduates.
- There is no interview for Office Assistant.
- Vacancies are distributed across States.
- Regional language knowledge can benefit local candidates.
- The recruitment offers both clerical and officer-level opportunities.
The current indicative vacancy count of 13,706 also makes CRP RRBs-XV one of the larger banking recruitment drives of the current cycle.
Common Application Mistakes to Avoid
- Applying for two Officer posts
Not permitted.
Choose only one among Scale-I, Scale-II and Scale-III.
- Selecting the wrong State
Local-language and final-allotment conditions can create problems later.
- Ignoring Scale-II/III experience
These are not normal fresher vacancies.
- Uploading signature in capital letters
IBPS explicitly says the signature should not be in capital letters.
- Using an old photograph
Use a recent passport-size colour photograph.
- Forgetting the live-photo requirement
Keep a webcam/mobile camera ready.
- Waiting until September 21
High portal traffic, payment errors or document-upload issues can cause trouble on the final day.
